Huawei Launched Mate 70 and Mate 70 Pro With Upgraded Cameras and Display
Huawei has unveiled its new Mate 70 series with Mate 70 and Mate 70 Pro at an event held in Shenzhen. Both of these models are carrying incremental improvements in design display and cameras.
The Mate 70 series maintains Huawei emphasis on durability and build quality. The Mate 70 however is the slimmest in the lineup at 7.8mm and features a flat frame distinguishing it from its counterparts. Both come with an IP69 rating protecting against water and dust and second generation Kunlun Glass for enhanced durability incorporating basalt fiber to resist drops.
The Mate 70 has a 6.7 inch LTPO OLED display, while the Mate 70 pro is slightly larger at 6.9 inches. Both retain FHD+ resolution, a 1-120Hz variable refresh rate, and 2500 nots peak brightness for clarity and smooth performance even under bright sunlight. The Huawei Mate 70 and 70 Pro are available in Spruce Green Hyacinth Purple Snow White and Obsidian Black colors.

Internals and Software
While Huawei has not confirmed the chipset details, it is widely speculated that the series uses the Kirin 9100, a 6nm processor. Both devices run HarmonyOS 4.3, with an update to HarmonyOS next expected. The side-mounted fingerprint scanner is a multifunctional button with additional controls such as turning on flash or triggering the AI assistant through gesture inputs.
Camera
Both devices feature a 50MP main camera with a variable aperture of f/1.4-f/4.0 and OIS along with a 40MP ultrawide sensor. Mate 70 comes with a 12MP periscope camera, providing 5.5x optical zoom. Mate 70 pro comes with a 48MP periscope lens with 4x optical zoom.
The new spectral imaging sensor captures more color data with 1.5 million multi-spectral channels. It means that this brings better color accuracy, natural skin tones, and better shadows handling-very important when taking it into challenging lighting conditions.

Battery and Pricing
The Mate 70 is powered by a 5300mAh battery with 66W wired and 50W wireless charging. However, the 70 Pro slightly increased the capacity to 5500mAh supporting 100W wired and 80W charging, catering to users who require faster recharge times.
The Mate 70 starts at CNY 5499 ($757), while the Mate 70 Pro begins at CNY 6499 ($895). Both models are now available for pre-order in China, with deliveries starting on December 4. Global availability is not confirmed yet.
