Samsung One UI 7 Beta Unveiled With New Features

Samsung has delayed One UI 7 and its release is now slated for early 2025. But even though it is later than expected, a beta program launches today showing off some of the new features.

Key improvements include better AI capabilities and a focus on writing assistance. These AI tools will make writing and formatting easier, summarize text, check for spelling and grammar errors, and organize notes into neat bullet points.

Similar to Google Pixel Phones, now One UI 7 will add AI-powered call transcription to its feature list. A thorough redesign also makes the UI and functionality much easier. The new Now Bar serves this purpose as it brings onto the lock screen relevant activities, such as those of interpreter, Recording, music, and Stopwatch, cleaning up the app screen. This allows rapid access to key notifications and actions directly on the home screen without having to unlock the phone.

In One UI 7, Samsung has redesigned the camera interface. Controls and modes in the camera buttons have been rearranged to be more accessible. The viewfinder has also been updated for a clearer preview of Photos and Videos.

The One UI 7 beta program starts today, December 5, 2024, for the Galaxy S24 series in Germany, Korea, UK, India, and Poland. To join the beta, users need to sign up through the Samsung Members app.

Those who have been waiting for a stable release are out of luck, as it will not happen until early 2025, according to earlier statements. Samsung could make the One UI 7 announcement at the Galaxy S25 launch event, likely in January or later.
