Design and Build

According to the report the ROG Phone 9 FE closely resembles the ROG Phone 9Pro in design. Leaked images reveal the phone in Phantom Black maintaining the bold gaming-oriented aesthetic that the ROG series is known for. The device will reportedly measure 8.9mm thick weigh 225 grams and feature AirTrigger controls which are a signature component of Asus’s gaming devices.

Performance and Display

The ROG Phone 9 FE will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC which is last year flagship chipset compared to the Snapdragon 8 Elite found on the Rog Phone 9 and 9 Pro. It will come with 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256 GB of UFS 4.0 storage and will run Android 15 out of the box.

The smartphone will feature a 6.78-inch 1080p LTPO AMOLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate which can boost up to 185Hz through Game Genie for a more immersive gaming experience. The display is also said to offer 2500 nits peak brightness (with 1600 nits in HBM) and comes with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection which is the same as the vanilla Rog Phone 9.

Cameras

For photography the ROG Phone 9 FE will have the same camera system as its sibling phones with a 50MP primary camera (Sony IMX890 with OIS) a 13MP ultrawide lens a 5MP macro camera and a 32MP front-facing camera for selfies.

Battery and Pricing

As per the report the ROG Phone 9 FE will pack a 5500 mAh battery which is only slightly smaller than the Rog Phone 9/9 Pro 5800 mAh cell. The phone will support 65W wired charging enabling quick top-ups and it will also include wireless charging for added convenience.

While there is no word on the Rog Phone 9 FE pricing the older chipset suggests we can expect a slight price cut. Since the vanilla Rog Phone 9 launched for $899 the Rog Phone 9 FE can be expected to go for bellow $800-700.
