Samsung Faces Backlash for Downgrading the S Pen
Samsung has introduced several refinements with the Galaxy S25 Ultra including the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and a redesigned frame for improved comfort. However one controversial decision has left many fans confused the removal of Bluetooth connectivity from the S Pen.
This downgrade eliminates a host of Air Actions features that allow users to control their devices remotely such as snapping photos with a click of the stylus button or navigating presentations without touching the screen. The decision has sparked criticism among loyal Note and Ultra series users resulting in a public petition demanding that Samsung restore Bluetooth functionality in the Galaxy S26 Ultra next year.
Users Demand Return of Bluetooth in S Pen
Tech reviewer Jeff Springer initiated the petition expressing disappointment over Samsung choice to remove Bluetooth from the S Pen. While not everyone uses these features daily the convenience of remote camera control app navigation and media playback were key selling points for some.
The petition has already received over 600 signature with the campaign urging Samsung to reconsider its design choices for the Galaxy S26 Ultra in 2026. The statement reads.
(We implore Samsung Mobile to listen to their user base and incorporate beneficial feedback into their product development process. As a show of commitment to edge-cutting innovation and customer satisfaction we collectively ask Samsung to bring back the Bluetooth S Pen for the Galaxy S26 Ultra launch in 2026.
Why Did Samsung Remove It?
Samsung has not officially said anything about the removal of Bluetooth support yet but some speculate that the decision was made to reduce power consumption or improve durability. Others believe cost-cutting measures played a role as including Bluetooth would require additional components a rechargeable battery and a charging coil within the stylus.
Many users feel that charging $1299 for a premium flagship while removing key features in an unfair trade-off. The absence of Bluetooth makes the S Pen more basic than ever resembling a simple stylus rather than an advanced productivity tool.
Will Samsung Respond?
Samsung has a history of listening to user feedback as seen with software improvements and hardware changes in previous models. However since the S25 Ultra is already in production the company is unlikely to reverse its decision anytime soon.
For now users who heavily rely on Bluetooth functionality will either have to adapt or wait for Samsung response in next year model.
