Huawei Mate 70 Pro gets a Premium Edition with CPU
Huawei has announced a new Mate 70 Pro Premium Edition which will go on sale starting March 5 in China. Despite the (Premium) name this version comes with an underclocked chipset but a lower price tag compared to the standard Mate 70 Pro.
Design and Display
The Huawei Mate 70 Pro Premium Edition retains the 6.9-inch OLED display with a 120Hx refresh rate ensuring smooth visuals. The design remains unchanged from the standard model featuring a sleek body and a curved-edge screen. The phone is available in Green, Purple, Black and White color options.
Internals and Software
Unlike the standard Mate 70 Pro which launched with the Kirin 9020 chipset the Premium Edition features an underclocked version of the same processor, this change was revealed in a Geekbench listing where the phone posted a single-core score of 1450 and a multi-core score of 3793-results comparable to mid-range smartphones. Despite this the Premium Edition still offers 12GB of RAM ensuring solid multitasking performance. The phone runs on Huawei HarmonyOS providing a smooth user experience without Google services.
Camera
The camera system remains unchanged featuring a 50MP primary sensor a 40MP ultra-wide camera and a 48MP macro telephoto lens. This versatile setup ensures high-quality photography with excellent zoom and macro capabilities.
Battery and Pricing
The 5500mAh battery supports 100W wired and 80W wireless
charging delivering fast charging speeds. The Premium Edition is priced lower than
the original Mate 70 Pro making it a more affordable option. The pricing is as
follows:
· CNY 6699 ($920) for 512GB storage
· CNY 7699 ($1050) for 1TB storage
While the Premium Edition offers a slightly downgraded processor
it still maintains the same premium design camera system and fast-charging
capabilities at a more competitive price. However it is unlikely that Huawei
will release this version outside of China.
