Tecno Spark Slim wants to be the world's thinnest phone
Tecno has unveiled what it claims is the world thinnest smartphone the Spark Slim measuring just 5.75 mm thick and incorporating two 50 MP cameras and a robust 5200 mAh battery.
Although attention-grabbing this device is currently only a
concept and there is no information regarding when (or if) it will reach the
market in it is present from. Demo units will be on display at the upcoming
Mobile World Congress but it seems unlikely that consumers will see a
commercial launch anytime soon.
The Spark Skim carries a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen with curved
edges offering 1224p resolution and supporting a 144Hz refresh rate. Tecno claims
it achieves a peak brightness of 4500nits and has a 13MP front-facing camera. The
phone 4.04mm thick battery supports 45W fast charging and while the camera bump
adds a minor bit of bulk this design still stays exceptionally streamlined.
Tecno has not revealed the Spark Slim chipset mentioning only
that it features an octa-core CPU. A flagship-class platform seems unlikely as
advanced cooling systems typically needed for such performance are larger than
the Spark Slim compact frame would allow.
Visitors to MWC in Barcelona can see the Spark Slim in
person. The plan is for us to check it out there and get a feel for how Techno
ultra-slim device handles especially given it is concept status. Ultimately it
is cutting-edge dimensions and features may signal new possibilities for
smartphone design but whether the Spark Slim will ever appear on store shelves
remains in question.
